Abominable Robot – Shenanigans by Jonathon Robinson

October Sunset at Disney Hollywood Studios

As the spooky fun of HalloweenTime begins to fade, “scary” is soon to be replaced with “Peace on Earth” throughout the Walt DisneyWorld Resort.

And even though the Holiday Season hasn’t quite started yet, and the The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights on the Streets of America remains dark as DHS finishes preparing this winter treat, the lights that have been placed, though dark, still already glimmer with a special kind of magic at sunset.

The entire Streets of America section on the way to The Now Its Just Getting Sad Back Here Studio Backlot Tour and The Huh? What? Was I Asleep Just Now? Lights, Motors, Action!® Extreme Stunt Show® (Now with Even® More® Legal® Protections®!) is getting decked out in what will eventually be a holiday light show boasting millions of lights.

Lights are strung on every bit of visible facade.

And when the lights go on and the sun goes down you can imagine how beautiful its going to be back here. Even a Scrooge like me might just feel a glimmer of holiday magic. I said might. Let’s not get too carried away just yet.

We headed to the Studio Backlot Tour since its been years since we’ve endured enjoyed a ride through Catastrophe Canyon. And since the Information board at the front of the park said we had until 6:30 to ride, we knew we’d be right on time. Except we weren’t, see? The attraction “closes now at 6:00 PM” we were told. Then would it kill someone to please tell this fact to whomever posts times at the front of the park? When a leisurely stroll because we have plenty of time ends with, “oh no sorry yeah no” things are not terribly magical. Not terribly magical at all.

Clearly we had to settle merely for a photo of the statue Madison the Mermaid gave Tom Hanks in Splash.

But a walk near Muppet Vision 3D cheered us right up. I hope the new movie is a huge success so they can at the least redo the attraction and at best expand this whole area of Streets of America to more of a Toontown-Inspired Muppet Metro. It could be awesome if they wanted it bad enough.

Seeing building features bedecked in accessories reminiscent of Muppet characters like the one here of Dr. Bunsen Honeydew makes for a magical stroll through the park.

Has anyone ever wondered if, given the chance, Miss Piggy would cheat on Kermit with an older man? An older, wiser yet equally green man? Think about it. Mmmm, happen it could. As they say, once you go green…
